When it comes to fashion it's easy to forget about the key wardrobe staple; a decent pair of undies! Cue Andrew Christian; the latest designer to be taking the world by storm with his cutting-edge underwear designs. Having caught wind of this new kid on the block, LGM contributor Nathan Toth got in touch with Mr Christian himself to find out more about the inspiration behind his unique underwear ranges.
"Underwear is a hugely important and integral part of people's lives" says Andrew, the man responsible for infusing a well needed dose of luxury into our everyday essentials. His most acclaimed concept to date is 'Flashback – Butt Lifting Technology' which is designed to give the perfect 'bubble butt'. "I was inspired one day when I was at the gym working out. I noticed how hard people were working on their rear ends, doing lunges and squats. I thought 'wouldn't it be great if I could create a pair of underwear that did that automatically?' From there, the Flashback was born." The technology within the underwear lifts your buttocks without any embarrassing padding or cups, and it's incorporated into the latest designs to save the trauma of having to wear the infamous 'Bridget Jones' style underwear.
Since Flashback, Andrew has been a front-runner in underwear innovation, recently adding 'Anti-Muffin Top Elastic' to his range of designs to give men a sleek waistline. "As we all know not everything looks good on every body type. People want to look good and be comfortable in what they are wearing" he says, which is why he is becoming such a big name in design. Andrew creates a perfect balance of practicality and style; he designs underwear which is accessible and appealing to everybody, not just the fashion savvy.
His latest range is made from super-soft bamboo fibre which is not only breathable and anti-bacterial, but is so comfortable that you will forget you are even wearing them. As a sceptic, I was keen to put this 'Almost Naked' line to the test; and I must say that I was pleasurably surprised. However, as comfortable as they may be, a pouch in the front of your boxers to allow your manhood to hang free isn't the most flattering addition to the garments.
Regardless, if you’re looking to spice up your underwear wardrobe in 2009, grab yourself some Andrew Christian's. They're comfortable, practical, and make you feel incredibly sexy.
